Mercedes-Benz and Cigarette Racing launched the world’s most powerful electrically-driven powerboat.
The “Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept” it was jointly developed with Mercedes’ AMG performance division.
The 38 foot-long powerboat that’s finished in the same “AMG Electricbeam Magno” matt yellow paint as the SLS AMG Electric Drive is powered by two of the gullwing coupe’s powertrains, each with its own transmission at the rear, one on the left and one on the right.
Juice comes from four SLS AMG Electric Drive battery packs, which are charged via two 22 kW on-board chargers adapted to fit U.S. marinas. Maximum output is 1,656 kW (2,220HP) and torque reaches 3,000 Nm (2,212 lb-ft) for a top speed of over 99 mph (160 km/h).
Apart from the concept, Mercedes and the Cigarette Racing Team also unveiled the 42-feet Huntress that is inspired by the G 63 AMG. Unlike the electric concept, it isn’t powered by the SUV’s powertrain but no less than five 350HP supercharged Mercury Racing outboard inline six-cylinder engines, for a total output of 1,750HP.
